Tips for the Best First Visit Ever!
⌛ Expect this appointment to be a little longer than others, typically 1 hour, as we like to thoroughly get to know your pet and answer all of your questions.
⌚ ARRIVE 10–15 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIME. This allows your pet to get comfortable in the building, and lets us complete paperwork (entering you and your pet into our system, signing consent forms) without cutting into your actual appointment time.
📁 BRING ANY MEDICAL HISTORY RECORDS (not just bills or vaccine certificates, although those help too). Contact your previous clinic to have them emailed or faxed to us. This might incur a fee or delay, so plan ahead. Also, bring any current medications and the name of the food you're feeding (a photo of the packaging is helpful). Don’t forget a list of your concerns.
💩 BRING A STOOL SAMPLE, as fresh as possible! We may not need it, but if we do, you’ll avoid a second trip. You may even want to bring a urine sample — not as easy, but very useful!
🎯 Come by with your pet for an informal, stress-free visit BEFORE the appointment. That way, we’ll be more familiar. Dogs can get a cookie and be weighed; cats might just enjoy a nail trim. You’re welcome to a tour — please ask if not offered. If we’re busy, we’ll gladly reschedule — hospital life can be unpredictable!
🏐 BRING YOUR PET'S FAVOURITE TOY OR TREAT, or perhaps a blanket. Toys can distract from stress. Familiar items provide comfort, and we love when owners bring allergy-safe treats for their pets — it helps during checkups and blood draws!
Please do not hesitate to ask any questions before, during, or after your appointment.
